Students in all grade levels will be able to learn from the Tower Garden. Younger grades are able to learn how to plant seeds, how vegetables grow, and harvest the vegetables from the garden. Students are then able to use the Tower Garden to observe the parts of the plants and understand the different anatomies of plants. Students learn that plants respond to different factors in the environment and need unique things to grow.
Older students will use the garden to learn alternative methods to the traditional methods of soil farming. Students will discover the imperative components to growing vegetables as well as the importance of various minerals and maintaining a consistent pH. The older students will research the benefits and drawbacks of a soil free growing system. They will be able to determine which plants will be best to grow indoors and which are better suited to be grown outdoors. Students of all ages will benefit from the experience of planting, caring for, and harvesting from the Tower Garden growing system.
