Dear Friends ---
We have received another directive from the Archdiocese regarding churches being openly available for prayer and the Sacrament of Penance being readily available.
I hope that you understand that this is a precarious situation, simply because people are not careful. I was made aware, for example, that yesterday at a nearby parish during openly scheduled confession times there were 43 people present and NOBODY was observing social distancing while waiting. In my opinion, for public safety, this must be avoided.
So, as I have made clear before, please be aware:
Our Church is available for prayer at any time, day or night. If you wish to come pray and don't know the code on the side door facing the rectory, call and we will give it to you
The Sacrament of Penance is also readily available. Simply call Fr. Gahan or me and we will arrange for a time with you individually. To protect your anonymity, you do NOT have to identify yourself when you call. Simply say that you want to confess anonymously. We will arrange a time and we will be waiting in a confessional for your arrival.
Your priests and your parish church are ALWAYS available to you. We are doing so in the way we believe assures safety most. We don't want anyone to get sick or, God forbid, end up dying because of an effort to encounter the Lord.
Stay safe and healthy.
