After the completion of five What and Why Sessions in October, December, January, February, and April during which what is being proposed regarding the interior of church was described and for which theological and liturgical rationale was provided and after having provided in April a current cost opinion regarding the project and an explanation regarding how it will be funded without accumulating any debt whatsoever and without touching regular parish savings, all active parishioners were invited to provide their input regarding this potential project on any of the last three weekends of May.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to the 213 active parish families who provided input.
The members of the Parish Pastoral Council tabulated the results at a meeting on 31 May 2018. Here are the results:
**
135 active families (63%) indicated that they are in favor of the project in its entirety as described.
**
78 active families (37%) indicated that they are in favor of certain aspects of the project and they indicated how they would prioritize them
**
0 active families (0%) indicated that they were against any sort of project whatsoever
What’s Next?
As we continue to accumulate funding for the project, I will be in communication with Archbishop Carlson regarding the project and acquire from him the requisite permission for a capital investment of this scope. Our Facilities Committee and I will be meeting with the architect to begin the process of evolving the concept drawings into the structural and engineering drawings which are necessary in order to put a project out to bid. The process of soliciting bids from contractors will be conducted with the assistance of the Archdiocesan Office of Building & Real Estate as is required. As that process moves along and as the remaining funding needed is accumulated, I will keep you informed of our progress and eventually determine a starting date for construction. Our Parish Facilities Committee will assist me by serving as Project Managers for this undertaking. I believe we are embarking on
yet another great moment in the history of our parish, one that will serve and advance the worship experience of our parish and those who visit us for worship in the best way possible.
I believe it will be a worthy expression of our desire to give Almighty God the most noble and fitting dwelling in our midst that we possibly can.
