At all Masses for Sunday, November 14th, we will be celebrating the Rite of Naming and Commendation of an Infant who Died Before Birth. This Rite is provided for all parents who have suffered the loss of a child prior to birth regarding instances in which the child’s body was not fully formed enough to provide the Rite of Christian Funerals and burial. When these instances occur this Rite provides an opportunity for parents to name their child and commend the child’s soul in faith to the loving care of God our Creator. If you have had a miscarriage or otherwise lost a child prior to birth and would like to participate in this Rite, you may do so simply by calling the Parish Office confidentially and telling us the first and middle name that you would like to give to your child.Your family name will not be said aloud during the Rite if you prefer that we not. The Parish Office will prepare and send to you a commemorative certificate regarding the Naming and Commendation of your child.
