In October of 2014, we started making "Ugly Quilts", part of a project started by My Brother's Keeper bags for the homeless made from repurposed material. Among the regular volunteers was a young girl named Jadyn. Tragically, Jadyn passed away in August 2017. To honor the spirit of generosity in this beautiful child, we altered the project and renamed it for her now. Now we have "Jadyn's Quilts" coverlets which are warm and purposeful, like their namesake. We use clean, reusable materials, blankets, sheets and yard goods. These are layered to make a "quilt", held together with simple knots and finished edges. No sewing skill is needed to help with this project, just the ability to tie a knot!
