Weekly PSR Classes for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade on Monday evenings from 6:15-7:30pm
Once a month Family Catechesis for grades Kindergarten through 7th on Sunday mornings from 10:45am- 12:00pm.
Bi-weekly 8th grade PSR class on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00pm
 
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a program for children ages 3-9.  Level 1 is offered on Tuesday afternoons from 4-6pm and Level 2 is offered on Thursday afternoons 4:30-6:30pm.  Since this program doesn't cover all of the core curriculum for each grade level, children who are not in day school, PSR or being home schooled in religion will need to purchase a grade level student religion book to work on at home in addition to attending Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Home Schooling – This option is for families who home school in all subjects or want to teach their child at home and want to stay connected to our religious education program. Parents of children in 2nd and 8th grade preparing for their sacraments will need to attend all required parent meetings and children will need to attend all necessary  events.  Parents and children will need to meet with the Director throughout the year.
 

Admission

The Parish School of Religion (PSR) is open to registered parishioners whose children attend public school. For admission into the kindergarten religion program, the child should be five years of age before August 1 or should be enrolled in a kindergarten program elsewhere. For admission into first grade, the child should be six years of age before August.1. At registration, a baptismal certificate and any other sacramental information is needed along with the completed registration form, an IEP, and any necessary health forms.  Registration is considered complete when a family is registered in the parish, all paperwork is on file, and at least a partial payment is made. Tuition assistance is available for families in need. No family will be refused admission for inability to pay fees, if they are having financial difficulties, but we ask that everyone pay what they can so that we can keep our tuition affordable to all.  Financial arrangements and considerations can be made through the PSR office.

Registrations received after July 1st will have an additional $25.00 late fee. 
(Late fee does not apply to families new to our PSR program)

TO COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION PROCESS, WE ASK THAT YOU COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS:    
1.    Register in the Parish, if you are not already a member.  This can be done here:  Register.
2.    Complete the following Parish School of Religion Online Registration here:  PSR Registration.   
3.    Provide a Baptismal Certificate for all Kindergarten and new students. 
4.    Provide an Asthma Inhaler/EpiPen Permission Form, if applicable.  The Form can be found to the
        right under Links.  
5.    Provide a copy of an IEP, if applicable.
6.    Pay tuition (including the registration fee and sacramental fee, if applicable).  
       Payment can be made in cash, check, or through Online Giving.  

TUITION

There is a registration fee of $30.00 for each family
There is a Sacramental fee of  $25.00 for each child preparing for their First Communion or Confirmation.

There is a fee of $3 for each transaction made with online giving.

REGISTRATION IS CONSIDERED COMPLETE AFTER ALL STEPS ARE COMPLETE INCLUDING A FULL TUITION PAYMENT OR A RECURRING TUITION PAYMENT PLAN IS SET-UP THROUGH ONLINE GIVING.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Our PSR classroom setting is offered for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade.  Children attend weekly sessions from 6:15-7:30pm from mid-August until May.  Students will participate in weekly prayer, Scripture reading and stories, skits, crafts, games, small group discussion and hands on activities.  Parents are invited to grade level Parent Child Activity Night as well as School Prayer Services throughout the year.
Parents Expectations:
•             Attend any weekly Saturday evening or Sunday morning Mass with your family.
•             Pray for and with your children, teaching the basic prayers of our Catholic faith.
•             Review the weekly chapter or lesson with your child and have your child complete any  
              homework assignments.
•             Read the virtue and saint of the month with your child.
•             Talk about God with your child in your daily living and throughout the week.
•             Be a positive example of their Catholic faith for their child.
•             Attend Parent Meetings for your child’s specific grade.
•             Attend Parent Child Activities and Prayer Services within PSR, if you are able.

Family Catechesis Program-Monthly Program Sundays 10:45am-12:15pm
Our Family Catechesis program helps parents grow in their own faith while they guide their children in core faith formation. This program nurtures faith and helps build community. Finding God Family Catechesis combines parish-based group meetings and grade-specific instruction by trained catechists with at-home sessions guided by parents.
Families gather together for group prayer with the Director.  Parents stay with the leader for parent resources and discussion, while children attend class with catechists. Parents are given materials each month to teach their children at home using parent-friendly materials.  Monthly attendance is important in building fellowship and reinforcing what was learned at home.
Parents Expectations:
•             Attend weekly Saturday evening or Sunday morning Mass with your family.
•             Attend monthly group meetings with the Director. (missed session will need to be
              made up with the Director)
•             Pray for and with your children, teaching the basic prayers of our Catholic faith.
•             Teach the lessons with your child and have your child complete any homework     
              including the online chapter review for grades 1-7.
•             Talk about God with your child in your daily living and throughout the week.
•             Be a positive example of your Catholic faith.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION 

Baptism
Parents who have children ages 3 and older that are in need of the sacrament of baptism will need to make an appointment with the Director so she can prepare their child for the sacrament.
First Reconciliation and First Communion
A child needs to have completed 1st grade religion class (PSR, full time school or home school), in order to be placed in 2nd grade PSR.  Parents of children preparing for their sacraments should be attending weekly Sunday Mass with their children and teaching them their prayers. Children who are in 2nd grade but have not completed the first grade materials will need to speak to the Director to determine if they can catch up over the summer.  Children in 3rd grade or above will be placed in their grade level for the first year and then be place in a sacramental prep class in their second year of PSR.
Confirmation preparation is a two year program beginning in 7th grade.  Students who have not completed any of the grades leading to 8th grade will need to speak to the Director to determine their knowledge and where they will be placed.
