Welcome to this first experiment with forming a J&A "Virtual Children's Choir." During this stretch of time where we cannot gather together in person, perhaps we will be able to join together in this way.
Please make sure you follow the checklist below. I know that some of this might be technologically daunting for some of you - don't be afraid to as someone (spouse, child, grandchild, pet dog, other choir member, me) for help!
The piece I've chosen is "10,000 Reasons" which should be familiar for most of us.
Participation Checklist:
o ACCESS — At this url - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bc_vQngf_c8 - you can find a karaoke version of 10,000 Reasons on YouTube, complete with lyrics on the screen. Please do not record to any other versions. We need to use a common track for our voices to line up properly. If you need a score to look at, OCP has a preview score available here: https://dh8zy5a1i9xe5.cloudfront.net/shared/pdf/preview/30137274.pdf
o PREPARE — Please practice with the chosen track at least once before recording. Before recording, make sure to warmp up with any of our usual warmups: vee-vay-vah-voh-voo, one, one-two-one..., many mubling mice, etc. And make sure to sing some "Loo Loo" voice too!
o RECORD — When you are ready, record a voice memo or video of yourself singing the song. Sibling units may record together if desired and possible. Make sure you remember the following:
o I'd prefer that you use your smartphone to record. If you are unable to do so, you may use the camera on your computer. You do not need any complex sound or video equipment to participate!
o Please use headphones when recording so the singers can hear the track but so that the recording only captures your voice.
o Please record in a place where there is minimal background noise.
o A voice memo is preferred due to a much smaller file size (see below), but I will also be able to access and use the audio from a video recording.
o SUBMIT — When you are ready, submit your recording. Remember the following:
o If the file is not too large to email, you can send it to johnsono@stsja.org
o Alternatively, you can share the file via Dropbox or Google Drive with johnsono@stsja.org
o You could also try texting your recoring to 636-980-6255
o If need be, you could also upload a video to YouTube, and I could access the audio from there too.
GOOD LUCK!
